February’s issue celebrates recognition, partnership, and progress. From national awards to grassroots action, we highlight how our programmes continue to create real change for young people and communities.

Breaking The Cycle at the Children & Young People Now Awards 2025

Osmani Trust was delighted to attend the 20th anniversary Children & Young People Now Awards 2025, held on 20 November at Novotel London West. The event marked two decades of celebrating outstanding practice across England’s Children’s Services sector.

We are especially proud that Breaking the Cycle (BTC), a project of Osmani Trust, was nominated as a finalist for the Early Intervention Award, a recognition of the project’s impact and commitment to supporting young people.

Breaking the Cycle offers a targeted early prevention and intervention approach to prevent and reduce serious violence amongst mainly Muslim children and young people aged 10–16. The project works closely with schools, social services and youth justice to provide timely, culturally responsive support that supports safer and more positive outcomes.

Breaking the Cycle is delivered in partnership with Dream Chasers Youth Club (Birmingham) and West Bowling Youth Initiative (Bradford), whose local expertise and strong community relationships play a key role in the project’s delivery.

We extend our sincere thanks to our funders, delivery partners, and all those working tirelessly to drive positive change for children and young people.

Real Impact, Real Change: Better Bethnal Green Programme

Over the past year (2024–25), the Better Bethnal Green (BBG) programme has partnered with schools, grassroots groups, and local stakeholders to support young people at risk of serious youth violence.

Our PRU-based programme was also selected for the National VRU Ecorys Evaluation, with our casework model recognised for strengthening parental trust and improving practitioner relationships—a key factor in reaching “hard-to-reach” young people.

These achievements reflect the collective effort of the BBG programme to create safer, more supportive environments for young people across Tower Hamlets.

Strengthening Partnerships Through Youth Leadership

As part of our Leadership Development Programme, we visited the Dream Chaser Youth Centre in Birmingham alongside partners from West Bowling Youth Initiative (Bradford)—valued collaborators on our Breaking the Cycle (BTC) project tackling youth violence through mentoring.

The visit included leadership workshops, shared learning, and meaningful discussions with inspiring young people, strengthening partnerships across London, Birmingham, and Bradford.
